Hello again from the RCAC
We hope you are enjoying this wonderful summer! Here is the updated August schedule (changes are in bold).
We also wanted to let you know that there are some minor changes to online booking passwords coming in early August. You will receive an email if this affects you (most probably if Naomi was the one to create your account back in May, you will have to upgrade the password to a ’strong’ one.) If there are any problems, don’t hesitate to let us know.
Happy summer!

Hello from the RCAC
You might be interested in an article (or in the response from readers) published in the New York Times on May 7th.
The article – about how most insurance providers in the US do not cover acupuncture – made a passing reference to community acupuncture, suggesting that it is a good option for ’simple’ health problems. Well, many community acupuncturists – and patients who visit community acupuncture clinics – took issue with that statement. There are almost 250 comments!
Here is the link to the NYT blog
To see the comments, you may need to sign in as a user first.
best wishes

You can now come for your acupuncture treatments on Mondays too! Many of you have already met Brenna, who will be at the RCAC on Mondays from 10am to 1pm (last treatment starts 1pm.) Please note that you can have your treatments with any one of us as we share files and communicate with each other where necessary.
Although the new hours are not yet reflected on our website, Mondays are already open, and to celebrate, you are welcome to bring in a friend or family member for free on Mondays for the rest of May. (One of you must be a returning patient.)
We are glad to be able to offer you more flexibility and make it easier for you to get your treatments as often as you need them.
best wishes,
the RCAC
and it couldn’t be easier!
Just click on the red “Book Now” button that appears on the right-hand panel on our website. That’s all: you don’t really need to read all the instructions below, but I did promise to send them so, here they are.
To register as a user
If you were booked in to come to the clinic this week or in the coming weeks, you are already registered. Your login is your email address, and your password is 123. Feel free to change these if you like.
If you have not visited the clinic recently and want to book appointments, you will need to register. Just follow the prompts.
To make appointments
Once you have logged in, simply follow the instructions. Where it says “select service” you will want to choose follow-up from the drop-down menu, unless you are a first-time patient. Once you have done that, a calendar appears with the dates available for appointments. Open times appear in white: click on the one you want. Click on “finalize appointment” to complete your booking. The system will send you a reminder email a day or two before the appointment.
Please note that you will not be able to make (or cancel) appointments on the same day. This is because we have no way of seeing same-day updates once we are in the clinic. If you would like to be seen on the same day, please call the Dispensary at 416-537-5303 or come by to ask. We do our best to see walk-ins whenever possible.
We are glad to offer you the flexibility of making your appointments online.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to leave a message for me on 416-889-8263 and I’ll give you a call as soon as I can.
We look forward to seeing you soon
Naomi

to those who generously donated to Acupuncturists Without Borders at our Free Treatment Day on Saturday March 13th. We raised $150 towards their work in Haiti.
Please have a look at their website where there is an account of their initial visit to Haiti and plans to set up clinics to help with post-traumatic stress. They hope to be in Haiti for up to 6 months to support ongoing recovery, both in providing treatments, and in training local medical personnel to carry this healing work forward into the future.
It is amazing what can be done with a few needles.
The RCAC is offering FREE treatments between 12-5pm on Saturday 13 March 2010.
